On June 24, 2025, an event within the framework of the project “Environmental Security, Climate Change and Women’s Rights: Environmental Policy Training to Protect Women’s Rights in a Humanitarian Crisis” held by the CSO “Democracy Development Center” began in Lutsk. українською
The purpose and objectives of the training:
• to provide knowledge and increase competence in environmental safety in organizations working on the topic of women’s rights and gender policy;
• to create draft environmental policies of organizations;
• to provide proposals for environmental security measures for regional, local structures and organizations to implement the Gender Equality Strategy until 2030 and its plan, and for the draft National/regional Action Plan to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women. Peace. Security”;
• to help civil society organizations to take into account environmental and climate protection topics in regional and local strategies and action plans;
• to develop methodological recommendations on environmental topics, taking into account a gender approach.
This training and subsequent project activities are implemented to fulfill Operational Objective 4.3. “Conditions have been created for equal participation of women and men in decision-making in the field of environmental policy and equal access of women and men to natural resources” of the operational action plan of the Gender Equality Strategy until 2030 approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (No. 439-r dated May 2, 2025). for national and regional levels of organizations and state organizations and civil society.
As it was reported, the CSO “Democracy Development Center” is implementing a project in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine with funding from the international association OXFAM. The planned activities within the framework of the cooperation will last five months.
The project plans to involve consultants and trainers on environmental and social policy issues to develop proposals for the National Plan “Women. Peace. Security”.
