On June 25-26, 2025, the training “Environmental Security, Climate Change, and Women’s Rights: Environmental Policy Training to Protect Women’s Rights in a Humanitarian Crisis” is underway in Lutsk. The event is organized within the framework of the project “Environmental Security, Climate Change and Women’s Rights: Environmental Policy Training to Protect Women’s Rights in a Humanitarian Crisis” by the CSO “Democracy Development Center” jointly with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine “Environmental Security with a Gender Perspective”, funded by OXFAM. українською
During the training, the following topics were covered:
• Acoustic ecology: how and why to combat acoustic violence – posing the problem of acoustic terror;
• What is environmental monitoring and why is it worth learning about it;
• Climate change: ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men;
• Climate change adaptation. A gender perspective;
• Green recovery of communities and the Sustainable Development Goals;
• Success stories of women who have cleaned up the environment and improved health in their communities through (re)designing sanitation;
• The role of household waste in global warming.
A feminist excursion about the women who created Lutsk was also organized with the assistance of the NGO “Development of Volyn” for the training participants.
As it was reported, the CSO “Democracy Development Center” is implementing a project in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine with funding from the international association OXFAM. The planned activities within the framework of the cooperation will last five months.
The project plans to involve consultants and trainers on environmental and social policy issues to develop proposals for the National Plan “Women. Peace. Security”.
